Well done to Mourad for completing his longest Triathlon to date! The Half Iron Man – The Cowman, took place at Emberton Country Park and involved a 1.9km swim + 90km cycling +21km running: This is a tough challenge, Mourad first spent months training and preparing for this for 2019, but had to pull out owing to injury and illness. Covid cancelled his 2020 entry goal. But 2021, saw him complete the challenge with success!
After getting up at 4am to travel, Mourad began his swim at 7am in open water murky with algae. Half way through the bike leg there was some heavy rainfall to contend with on a hilly course, a positive mindset kept him going. A cheering crowd and energy bars, grabbed along the way, helped Mourad through the run and cramps that accompanied him in the last two laps. Mourad said it was a great feeling at the end and he finished in 5h49 min.
